Do you play video games?

"MGS4 - PS3 (I actually don't own one, so I have to run over to my cousin's/friends' closeby a couple days a week). Epic game."

*Epic interactive movie
fix'd

No. Negative.

I just think it's a waste of time. Everyday I play basketball, I study stocks and play stocks simulator game, I learn java, I study for SATs, I do mental math exercises, I do all my school work and review them, I condition myself...I just have a lot of things to do. And every thing I mention is much more important than the joy I get from playing video games, because after I finish playing I would feel bad for the wasted time and actually I would become more depressed...

ummm
I was a harcore gamer up to 10th, because the workload was easy to handle and didn't have to worry that much about EC's
but from 10th on, too much school work to worry about.

I used to play [NetHack, which is pretty much the best game ever made, with the possible exception of ADOM[/url</a>]. It doesn't have the best graphics (unless you ask a minimalist roguelike addict like me), but it more than compensates with fantastic depth and replayability. There's gotta be a reason people still play it even though it's older than I am. I'm not a big fan of modern video games -- took me forever to play through Portal because of the 3D graphics -- but Scorched Earth is also really, really fun. And I really miss 2D platform side-scrollers (Mario, Jill of the Jungle, BioMenace...)

(I'm still 92nd on the world's</a> largest NetHack high score list](<a href="http://www.nethack.org%5DNetHack%5B/url">http://www.nethack.org). :D I should really finish ascending all 13 classes, but after playing it 6 hours a day all of junior year it's kind of gotten boring.)

So what games is everyone here looking forward to?

I'm currently interested in:
Banjo Kazooie arcade releases and Nuts and Bolts (huge fan of these for the N64)
Fable 2
Infinite Undiscovery
Fallout 3
Fracture

And more for the long-term:

Beyond Good & Evil 2
Final Fantasy XIII
BioShock 2
Alan Wake
Mass Effect 2/3
Star Ocean 4
Portal 2/HL2EP3

FFXIII and Resident Evil 5 look like they will kick loads of ass.

I mainly play RPGs, though I do like Silent Hill and MGS (among others) too.

I think my favorite game is probably Tales of Symphonia.

Do any of you younger people feel that RPGs are getting stale nowadays? I grew up with NES and SNES RPGs, and by the time the PSX was halfway through its life cycle I was pretty much tired of RPGs. I've been finally playing Shadow Hearts for my PS2 recently and it was fun, but it really felt like I was just wasting time while playing it more than actually having a fun time while playing it.

The only RPG I can really remember getting into on the PS2 was Grandia Xtreme, and everyone just makes fun of me for liking it. :(

There's a host of modern RPG's that are really good. You just aren't looking in the right places / used to the stuff. From PC to PS3 to 360, etc...a lot of stuff out there. I do remember the SNES's lol, Chrono Trigger...played that in elementary. Ownage.

I'll mega curtail my list and put a couple random PC ones here (mix of short/long term, I guess) :

-Starcraft II (probably among the very top of my list)
-Final Fantasy XIII
-World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King (expecting a lot here, but meh)
-Diablo III (hope it's better than II)
-Resident Evil 5
-BioShock 2
-GTAIV (lol I expect epicness here as well)
-Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3
-Crysis Warhead (eh, we'll see)
-Left 4 Dead
-Fallout 3 (LOL, maybe just for the lulz)
-Guild II : Venice (just because..)
-GHIII (lol)
-CoD : World at War
-ShellShock 2 : Blood Trails (kinda)
-Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir (maybe)
-Fear II : Project Origin

Just a couple random ones, and of courses there's the other consoles that aren't PC's. I'm mainly about PC games, though.

Wow. No Football / Baseball game players?

I own so many football and baseball games out there.
Pro, College, anything.
I love it ;)

A few of the most recent WRPGs have been really sweet, and JRPGs are.. acquired tastes -- either you like them or you don't.

Out of the WRPGs Oblivion, Mass Effect, and Bioshock come to mind, and JRPGs have Lost Odyssey, and, erm, eternal sonata I guess (I take it you're referring to the current gen, right?).

TONS of awesome stuff is on its way though, should shift the climate quite a bit.

I do my decent share of sports and ESPN games as well. It's just that that used to be more of a middle school thing, now I'm more into RTS, FPS, RPG, and stuff like that I guess. Also those games tend to be on consoles, which I don't particularly own. Football, Basketball, soccer games are the best with a party with your friends', tourny kinda thing, but other than that...not a lot.

Also, one of the many pwnage games I forgot to mention and just played for 3 hours is Assassin's Creed. Definite own.

Aside from some Guitar Hero sessions at a friend's house, nope. I've never owned a console.

Hardcore gamer until 5th grade! Favorite is FFX (PS2) for sure!

I'm a big time madden gamer.... though i would've switched to the 2k series if madden hadn't bought the nfl rights. I love all football games, and I've always used the Jets!

I love video games, but I'm not playing as much as I used to. I love all Insomniac games!
