Do you purposely dress down or up for a certain class?

I usually wear jeans and a tshirt or sweatshirt. Sometimes I’ll wear yoga or sweat pants and a baseball cap when it’s a rough day. I usually made sure to seem moderately put together on days that I had meetings or class with my capstone technical advisor.

I wear jeans half the time, and dresses the other half (i.e., when I forget to do laundry). I never got into makeup or jewelry.

Even though I don’t really wear make-up, I prefer to put on nice clothes. I’ll bust out a dress or skirt even in winter. Obviously, if I’ve over slept or something, then I’ll put on sweats/a sweater. My motto for my appearance is “Look cute and act tough”

My dressing up/down has less to do with the class than the weather.

Yesterday was gorgeous out and I felt like wearing a dress so I did. When its cold out sweats and boots. When I feel crappy I bring out the hoodie etc.

Occasionally I’ll intentionally dress up for class but its for a reason. If I’m in my public speaking class and I’m presenting I’ll dress a little nicer (jeans and like a flowyish shirt). Yesterday I had a Parent Teacher Conference (ed major) so I dressed a little nicer, it was simulated but considering that my conferences are recorded I want to feel comfortable watching myself.

The way that I see it is that I want to dress up for mysel . I’m not out to please anyone so I’ll do what I want lol. I also work at a commercial daycare where I have to wear dress pants to work so I’ll dress up even less!! I have my entire life to “dress up”.

If you want to dress up do it. Its crazy to think that people truly think you do it for a guy or that you’re dumb or whatever the case is; just more of a reason to prove them wrong imo

Fyi:as an ed major most of my classes are at 7:55 so no; I will not be dressing up for that class. Ever.

I don’t dress “too dressed up” but I try to look nice, I’m married, and my husband is very handsome, so I partially do it for him. :x . The only thing that bothers me is I work around food, and my boss won’t let me wear nail polish. (this is almost grounds for quitting, except he works with my school schedule) and I don’t wear my nice jewelry, because I have to leave for work after class and might lose my jewelry at work. Otherwise, I wear nice clothes, boots, perfume, highlights, the works. But, I major in Accounting, and those ladies are well put together when they show up for class.

During midterms and finals is a different story, I procrastinate, so that week I’ll go without sleep, I’ll be wearing lounge around the house clothes. Yoga pants, tank top, hoodie, sneakers.

I dress casually and comfortably, but presentably, except in specific circumstances. I’m a very sweaty person and I do a lot of walking on campus, so I don’t care to wear a whole lot of glam and makeup. A clean pair of jeans, tennis shoes, and a nice T-shirt is my typical style.

However, I do notice a lot of other women wearing very nice clothing every day, and I don’t see it as unnecessary or a problem. As far as I’m concerned, people can wear whatever they want and express themselves as they choose.

If I have an interview on the same day as classes, I will wear a suit to every class.
If I have a presentation, I will dress classy (collared shirt, leather shoes) all day.
I purposely look scrubby as hell during finals (no shave, beanie, hoodie, basketball shorts, long socks with slides) to look like I prioritize studying over personal grooming.

Usually I dress like I’m a graphic tee model for H&M
