Should I wear a suit with suspenders Made In Italy to college everyday?

feel better

look better

attract more girls

don't know when you're going to meet your next employer

teacher pays you more respect

I have about 10 suits. Should I do it or is this pretentious?

Alongside students wearing jeans, graphic t-shirts, and boots; I think I will look MUCH more professional wearing a crisp white dress shirt made of 100% cotton, a silk tie, tie tack/clip, wool pants, leather belt, cufflinks, and leather shoes.

You never know when you'll meet someone in business or in romance who is worth it. To complete the ensemble I am thinking of getting a leather briefcase and an Ipad 3 with a wireless Bluetooth keyboard.

Don’t wear the suites. Be a normal kid unless you have a presentation. You’ll more likely get compliments that way. You’ll be noticed more if you’re really good at what you do.

Wear what you want to wear. If you honestly would feel best in a suit, wear a suit. Don’t wear one just because you think it will get you respect. And don’t not wear one just because people think it’s pretentious (which I do, unfortunately!)

This is just my opinion, but I think that would be overboard. Tremendously so. I mean, I’m all for wearing what makes you feel good but I think this might be a bit much for everyday wear.

Attracting more girls? Ehh…it probably wouldn’t work on me at first to be honest. And several gals I can think of as well. Many teachers don’t necessarily care what you wear or how you dress either; they care about how you do in class. How well you do your assignments, presentations, or exams. You can dress like a king and do terrible in class, dress like a bum and get top marks, or vice versa.

As for potential employers, if they’re searching on a campus they know that they’ll be seeing all sorts of characters. Examples from across the board. Just because you’re dressed nice doesn’t mean you’ll be their first choice.

For your sake, I hope you’re messing with us. Suits are worn for business formal conditions and going to class is not business formal. You would be committing a faux pas and instead of getting respect for it, you would be getting the opposite.

I also cannot conceive how wearing a suit would be comfortable. Being comfortable is key to absorbing new information. And you will most definitely not be meeting an employer in a classroom.

I know a guy who does this. He’s from Poland and I guess they do dress up more there (but he’s also a really weird person too so it’s just part of his personality I think) and he really sticks out. Kind of not in a good way. I don’t really advise it lol.

Depends on where you go to school. If you go to school in DC, you won’t stand out at all…a lot of students wear suits to class on a regular basis because they are working internships that require business dress.
