Do any of you guys take your laptops to school for notes or to type papers? I was thinking of doing this, sort of like a replacement for paper notes. There is this one girl who brings her TI calculaotr with a keyboard to keep notes on. But I just thought it would seem weird to pop out a laptop in class. Sometime some kids might bring their laptops and get on the schools wifi network to surf the net, but most do not.

I bring it every day for AP Art History (notes) and AP Art Studio (for Photoshop).

When I'm not being a diligent student and taking notes in Art History, I'm playing solitaire, writing, watching a DVD, listening to music (I sit in the back and the lights are off or dim all the time, so she doesn't notice the earbuds.) We don't get wireless in the classroom (basement), so I can't do that.

The reason I do it is because she gives a lot of notes and moves quickly, and I wouldn't be able to keep up if I were taking notes by hand. Nobody can, so the guys who have laptops send the notes to those who don't so they can see what they missed.

During my freshman year, this one dude popped out a laptop during class and started taking notes. No one said anything. The teacher let him do it too.

Yeah the teacher and other students don't say anything when other kids bring them but I just feel weird doing it. Oh well, I will give it a try. I think I really need to do this because I am so disorganized, when I finish writing notes I usually just stuff them in my backpack because I have no time to organize them since the bell already rung. Usually they just get lost and I have to borrow someones notes or copy them again when I need them.

A 3-ring binder really helps. I sprial notebook helps even more.

Typing the notes just seems easier. I carry too many books anyways. Plus I can get thinner binders since I won't need to store that many notes in them. A locker is not an option, my classes are so far apart I barely have time to walk to them. I have B lunch so I have 3 classes in a row before a break.

I know this is 2006 and the 21st century and all, but when it comes to being in class (in high school), nothing beats good old fashioned pencil/pen and paper!

We are not allowed laptops at my school......

no, theres this really really creepy kid in my economics class who brings a laptop to school..so its considering kinda werid or nerdy to have on i guess. People all him laptop kid too....

my county provides each student with a laptop for free... (plus 50 dollar insurance coverage of course...)

My public high school provides students with laptops. I don't go there though, but at my school, you're allowed to bring a laptop for notes.

i go to a public high school and i know a kid who brings a laptop because he has a hand problem...

i know that a nearby private school (full of snobby rich kids) has lots of kids bringing laptops to school..

in this private school nearby, it's compulsory to bring laptops to school

in our school, a couple of people do bring them.. im not sure if they pop them out during class because i've never had a class with them but people just give weird stares when they walk past.

Yeah there's this kid at a nearby private school that brings a laptop because he can't write for a long time.

I'm more of a traditional paper/pencil person.

urr. nobody brings laptops in my school.
public school BTW.

in my school, several students bring their laptops for powerpoint presentations, making music, showing a video, working on essays etc.

^. ditto, also for surfing the web.. doing apps, that sort of thing. usually taken out after lectures/discussions/announcements.
not usually taking notes, unless you have difficulty writing.

A lot of people at my school bring their laptops to school. I used to until it broke. We use computers a lot at school, in most classes, so its nice to have your own. We also have a lot of breaks this year, so time to play around onli ne.

Well, I bring mine occassionally for worklike if I have something big coming up: newspaper, essays, etc.

I have a friend who almost always brings it with her to..."take notes" (watch movies, play SIMS).

But other than that, it's just usand most of the time, it's just her.

Personally, I don't bring it not because I don't want to be the odd person out, but because of safety reasons. I go to a really ghetto large high school, lol, and my laptop is my entire life. Yes, it's pathetic. But if there's no fear of anything, except awkwardness, which soon will pass over by the third day you bust out your laptop, bring it if you think it'll help you at school!

BTW, iBooks rule. lol
