Do you think CC is more helpful than your school's advices?

So recently I told this lady in charge of AP testing and anything related to that that I'm self studying 2 easy APs and is currently taking 2 APs. Then she disapprovingly said that it's too much. But then I go here and see that there are a lot of people who take 5 hard APs and still get 5's. And they offer their experiences of this and that course.

And then my guidance counselor is like you're doing so great. She considers my B+'s as great...But I feel like she's not giving me any push or constructive criticism..I want the truth about how I'm doing. Maybe she just doesn't realize that my school's really competitive 'cause she's kinda new, i don't know.

So what do you guys/gals think, is CC more helpful than your school? :)

Yes, CC is full of highly intelligent and genius individuals.

actually it’s only 12 here in eastern and specific time. hahaha

by CC do you mean communit ycollege ?

CC as in college confidential. Eastern and specific time? o.O Do you mean PST?

Anyways, If you want advice I think you should post more info about your grades and your university aspirations. Although tbh I really am not qualified to help you since I have never taken an AP course.

edit: but to answer your last question I woul say yes, CC is very helpful. Although to be fair I rarely go to my counselor. Speaking of which… our counselors are all hot. my counselor is bit older but shes really pretty and then there’s this one british lady in her 20’s who has a cute accent and has a really short haircut and then the japanese counselor who people say is hotter rhan 99% of the girls at our school (which is not saying much) but she wears too much makeup imo.

Umm…you have very interesting counselors? Haha.

I sense another ■■■■■, but do your counselors actually voluntarily talk to you or do you have to go to them?

My school doesn’t have a counselor. So, CC pretty much helped me in every way possible.

Advice is a collective noun. “Advices” is a serious grammar mistake.

^^Grammar Nazi^^

‘Advices’ does sound awful though.

Really, you could probably just replace guidance counselors with CC and you’d get a better result (yes, yes, impractical and overexaggerating, don’t flame me).

But that would be a yes.

if CC had a service that could send all my stuff out/fill out a report of what kind of student i am…then i really wouldn’t need my GC ; )

CC is really helpful if your a motivated student. GC are okay, but sometimes they don’t think what’s best for you… just their record (or the schools). Or they don’t know you very well, since there may be thousands of students.

I like CC =) it’s helped a lot.

So fellow CCers would write the recommendations? That would be cool.

^Lol. I could imagine it now…

"…He got a 790 on the MATH IIC? He must be, mentally challenged! I can never recommend this student for MIT.

On the other hand, * I * made USAMO. Why don’t you take me instead?"

Maybe have CC do all the jobs of a guidance counselor except recommendations.

I think as for advice and such, its great to see what CCers have to offer and to share. There are lots of parents and students who share what theyve gone through.

I agree with thisgirlisaG though, even if CC is great for discussions and such, I felt the need to ‘hang out’ in my GC’s office and get to know her, and for her to get to know what kind of person I am, what i like to do, and my aspirations. Otherwise, my recommendations would be very general and probably wont get me anywhere.

General as in:
“She is a great student who is nice to everyone.”

More specific as in:
“She excels in the toughest classes in the high school. Although she has a busy schedule and is taking many AP classes, she finds the time to tutor others. She is never without a smile and always offers to share advice about _<insert extra=”" curricular=“” here=“”></insert>"

Etc. :D

Yes, I’ve found this website to be a useful resource.

I had to give a paper to my GC with everything I’d ever done listed on it…she had no idea. My school doesn’t give very good advices.

advice*********

no s.
