Do you think I can get into Milton, deerfield, or hotchkiss

I am an 8th grader applying for 9th grade. My grades are: French 1: 95%, enhanced math 1: 94%, English: 97, History: 97%, Science: 96%.
I have been doing piano for 10 years, have been on the cross country and track teams for 2 years, started debate team this year, am the representative of my temple's youth group, and I'm also working towards my Jewish confirmation. I am half Caucasian, half japanese. My overall ssat percentile was 94, math was 59%ile, verbal 99%ile, reading comprehension 98%ile. I'm very interested in writing and am joining my temple's choir and previously took voice lessons.

Hey! Congrats on applying to private school - it was one of the best choices of my life to attend. I think you have a really great shot at getting in, especially to Milton. If you have a chance, and you might not, work on bringing up your math SSAT. Some schools also like the idea of a “hook”, or one thing you stress in your application that you are exceptional in (an odd instrument, a sport, etc), but you seem well rounded, so certainly don’t feel pressured to do that.
And also, if you are adamant about attending private school, you might want to pick a safety, or a school you’re sure you can get into. Prep school admissions can be a lot like college: you never can know what they are looking for.
Good luck, and don’t hesitate to ask more questions!

Thank you! I’m also thinking about Concord Academy as well.

Do the boarding schools place a lot of weight on the essays on the applications?

It is really hard to tell what they are looking for, , you won’t ever know. I would say that each part of the application is important in a different way. I think the importance of the essay, and also the interview is for the admissions office to understand your character and get a sense of who you are. So, try not to worry about weighting, this isn’t like a test, it is all very subjective. What might get you accepted might get you waitlisted the next year. My advice is to let your personality and interests shine in your essay. Let them know who you are.

Ok, sounds like a plan!

Do you know if the essay is supposed to be organized in paragraphs?

What else would it be organized in?
