do you think i have a chance?

Currently i'm a junior at a pretty highly competitive Houston, looking to apply for rice next year. its always been my dream to get in, considering that ive been raised in houston and my parents would always take me there in their free time and walked around the campus and the village with me.
i have been told by some of my teachers that i could go better than the typical UT or TAMU, no offense, to that...theyre both excellent schools.

but yeah my extracurriculars are orchestra 4 years, region orch 4 years, orchestra officer math honors society, american red cross, octathalon, church altarhelper for round 8 years..?(dunno if that would really help), hospital volunteering 50+ hours, and doctor shadowing ~250 hours. thank god my moms a doctor and hooked me up with that at her place. haha

i take all ap classes, except english, and im mainly focusing in math and science; most likely id study biomedical engineering or biotechnology.
unweighted gpa ~3.85
weighted gpa 4.36
rank somewhere around the 20's out of 558
sat math round 790, critical reading round 620, writing around 720

I can tell from my common sense that nobody on this board knows what your chances are…you have to try and apply. That’s what I did and I am now nervously waiting for my decisions.

I think you have enough of a shot that you would apply. IMO saying anything more is pointless.

I agree. By the way are you a student at Rice?

No, but I might be come Fall 2010 :)

I hope I do too :)

Go for it. I can’t give you your chances, like the others said, but as someone who applied to Rice this year (early decision), it could well be worth it. Your med experience might make you a good candidate for rice/baylor if you decide to go the med school route in the end.
