I am in eighth grade and I’m applying to a couple boarding schools as a day student. I really want to get into Lawrenceville, and I wanted to know my chances of being accepted. For grades, I have been in honors reading, ss, and science for the past three years, straight a averages and really good gpa. For ecs, I do a lot. I a in a public safety club at school, I do coding outside of school, girlscouts, gold lessons, and I’ve been playing tennis since I was five. I was on the tennis team for 6th and 7th grade, and I am going to try out again this year. I also did a business internship this summer, and I already went for an interview at Lawrenceville. My interviewer said I was really impressive, but I am pretty sure that all interviewers say that. Also, I am planning to retake the SSAT, but my score for the first test was 89 percentile. I would be super helpful for someone to tell me about my chanes to get in! Thank you!
*Golf lessons.
L’ville is very tough to get into as a day student. I know kids with higher scores and more impressive ECS who did not get in but I really think the AOS there are good at figuring out who would thrive there and who wouldn’t and I don’t think they were kids who were great fits. I would not put your odds above 50% but I haven’t met you!
I wish you luck and am glad you also are considering a few others as well.
Thanks! For the first SSAT, I did not study, and I went into it blindly. This time, I am really studying, and I am getting really good scores on practice tests, so I’m confident that I’ll do better. I’m really involved in my school, though, and I have had my poetry published. Do you have any tips that may increase my chances of getting in?
I think you are doing everything right. It will just depend on whether you are what they need.
If you’re good at tennis, make sure you let the coaches know!
Thank you!
We beat them at hockey all the time lmao
That was insentisitve and unnecessary @CivilWrongs.
@cababe97 It’s a rivalry if u went there u’d understand
All schools have rivalries. It was just unnecessary to point out that you beat them and “lmao”. I go to boarding school to so I completely understand rivalries between schools. My schools has some very big rivals as well. I’m sure that there is a schools that beats you in sports too. Your comment was just not needed. I’m not trying to pick a fight though, I was just trying to point it out in case you didn’t realize how that could be hurtful to the OP. @CivilWrongs
I don’t think it’s necessarily hurtful, but I do agree it’s inappropriate for someone to post such things on a CC forum. Go somewhere else if you’re not going to give advice.
