Hello, I am a rising senior. Here are my stats
UW GPA 3.2 I know this is very low and there have been some issues in my past that have interfered. For example, I had to help my family when my father was sick.
Race: African American
W GPA: 4.2
SAT: 2260 CR: 800 W: 700 M: 760
ACT: 33 (might retake)
SAT Subject tests: Biology (M)- 790 Chemistry- 770 Math 2- 800
ECs: Research- I am working on project that deals with micro-fluidic technology. I am also working on a project that deals with drug discovery in the area of neurodegenerative diseases (ALS). I am in contact with a lab in MA General Hospital and a lab in Northwestern and one in UChicago. I developed a program that helps develop schools and the education programs in my native country. Worked as a pharmacy technician at the local hospital. I am the VP of science national honor society. I also planned for the take heart america initiative at my local elementary schools.
I am a member of all of the honor societies at my school. I am the VP and head of the PR committee of the medical club.
I am a immigrant student and the first to go to college.
Emory, Northwestern, UChicago, Vanderbilt, UCLA, Carnegie Mellon, and UF
Also I know this is crazy but I have thought of John Hopkins as well. I know I have no chance for most of these colleges but just tell me if I have a chance. Thanks

My classes for junior year were AP Biology, AP Physics, AP Calculus AB, AP Statistics, AP English Language, AP Latin, AP US History

What’s class rank?

I do think you have a good chance at Emory, Northwestern, UChicago, Vanderbilt, UCLA, and CMU. (Idk what UF is, sorry.) Your SAT score is definitely up there, and your work in the medical fields looks really good, plus your development of that education program. I think those schools are reasonable. As a minority, first gen to go college, and an immigrant… that all really helps too. Like I said, I think you have a good chance at your listed colleges.

Since your GPA was affected by family issues, I might suggest weaving that into your app somewhere if you’re able.

Also, Johns Hopkins is a reach for anyone, but I’d say you have a chance.

you have good chances at UF and possibly Emory, but unfortunately the others would all be low reaches and reaches

Apply to your dream schools. You have a shot at any. Write great essays. Your only weak point is your gpa just be sure to explain your gpa somewhere on the application.

Have you considered HYPS? They are more generous in meeting need than many other prestigious private schools.

Is UF instate for you? If not, add a safety or two to your list. For a lot of students safeties are instate publics if cost is a factor. For your great stats, a safety might be any of the guaranteed merit aid schools (idk if gpa changes that). HBCU may also work as a safety.
