Do you think it is possible for me to get into UCSB?

It has been my dream school to go to since the 3rd grade. I went there with my family to visit my cousin on campus. I was amazed and fell in love with it. I never forgot about how great it was and I just visited it last school year on a college tour trip in my class. It just made me so eager to go to school there. I am afraid now that I messed up too bad last school year and screwed my chances of getting in. So can you tell me if i still have a chance of getting into UCSB?

The GPA I have right now before junior year is 3.45 (weighted)
I am also the vice president of Key Club at my school.

Yes it’s still possible. Many colleges consider junior year grades to be the most important. If you work hard and earn good grades your GPA will show a big upward trend which will look good on your application. You should also try to get involved in more EC’s and volunteering work.

Definitely agree with Shrivats, more ECs and an upward trend will definitely help you out. You also need to do really well on your ACT/SAT. I believe UCs have stopped requiring two SAT subject tests but if you know you will do well, those might be beneficial to take as well.

And if you don’t get in (not saying you wont, but as a back up), you can always go to Santa Barbara City College and transfer in to UCSB after two years.
