Do you think they already know?

I guess this isn't a very serious thread, but seriously... do you think the Yale admission's office already knows the list of 700 or so names they are going to send the singing bulldog to? Or do you think they are just as bad as us at procrastinating? Do you think if we call, they'd let us know if we're in or out?

This question came from Stanford releasing their early action admits early, and while I know Yale is probably not going to do that, I can't help but wonder....

Discuss.

Let’s go ahead and bump this thing.

I think they knew by last week.

Yes, they made final decisions already.

Why did you bump it after two minutes of making this thread? lol…

how’d you know that they made final decisions today?

I know for a fact that they made final decisions on December 9th, 10th, and 11th.

Really? They were going till the 11th?

Did you get a likely letter or something? How do you know?

OK REALLY why couldn’t they just have released results early if they’d already known since the 11th

Because they take amusement in watching us suffer. :D

^^ agreed!!
Btw, since I’m too impatient/ nervous to look it up… exactly how many people applied Yale SCEA and how many spots are there for acceptance?

thanks all!

5,265 applied for EA and they will take between 700 and 750.

Could be worse, I guess.

I don’t know if you’re all looking at this the right way. I’m sure some people were decided on two, if not three weeks ago. It’s not like they save all of the good apps to judge in the last second. Some people’s fates were sealed quite a while ago.

I think they may still be making decisions and/or reviewing some of their choices tomorrow. Otherwise, there’s literally no point in waiting until Tuesday to post decisions.

If you had a 3.0, 1800 SAT, weak ECs, and no hooks, they knew where you were a looong time ago.

someone on the other thread said they got an email from their regional rep asking for another scan of their SAT scores. apparently this email was sent on friday, which means they’re still making decisions even right now.

even if they have already decided on probably 95% of applicants, they can’t release decisions until everything is final.

just my two cents.

I am assuming they need a few days for administrative stuff after they make their decisions. For example, they have to accurately update everyone’s new status, right? Plus I believe that at the time decisions are announced they also provide those accepted with an initial financial aid estimate. This has to be coordinated also. I am sure that the gap between when decisions are made and when they are announced is to allow for a thorough and quality job to be done with the administrative implementation. Just my two cents.

im with greatwhite. stuffing 700 acceptance envelopes and 2000 deferral envelopes will not be a 2-minute job. imagine the papercuts. ouch.

well it’s a good thing they’re not even sending deferral/rejection letters :)

i know they don’t send rejection letters but they must send deferral letters? surely you need it in writing?
