deepdown - yay! That's why I love Stanford. :) :) :)

Anyway, you should just try and submit your app, even if it's late. I don't see why it would hurt. It's better late than never if Stanford is a school you really want to go to.

I do believe it. I'm not saying they would like someone with C's junior year, NOT AT ALL. I'm saying their "anti-Ivy" attitude--the same reason this board is so much friendlier than the Harvard boards--that is what I'm talking about. I'm also saying, with a little less confidence, that they'd rather have straight A's, great scores, and a person who takes risks (i.e. risking applying a few days late), rather than someone who achieved the same academic excellence and does everything EXACTLY right. A late application might separate, literally and figuratively, his character from the group. That quality is what makes Stanford great--the challenging academics without the cutthroat East Coast atmosphere.

Thank God---Thanks so much deepdown for allowing me to enjoy my Christmas break. I was freaking out the whole day and practically gave up Stanford in tears.

I love stanford with all my heart and it's awesome that you have such an idealistic view, but one of my closest friends didn't finish his app on time and he called and pleaded and pleaded with admissions and they wouldn't let him submit it without permission from the dean, who only grants late apps if there's a real reason why they couldn't submit it ontime (he hadn't realized until the last minute that it was due december 15th and not january 1st).

Oh wow! I guess I was a little too idealistic. Anyway, it's Christmas Eve, so I'm not sure why I'm thinking about college right now...Merry Christmas everyone.

efilsiertaeht , does that apply in my case too? :l

i don't think so, I think deepdown's point was accurate about the missing application materials. good luck

sigh Of Relief

Although u guys aren't directly from Stanford me, it gives me peace of mind (at least for now...)

WTF! I found my application that I printed out right before clicking "submit",,,,and it CLEARLY has my essay on it!! What the hell happened??

My friend applied to Duke 2 weeks late last year and got in.
