for some technical class, do you sell the book as well?

I don’t buy the books

I don’t take notes

So … no? I mean, for many classes, the lecture notes are all posted online anyways. So I just print them…

I write my notes in thin notebooks, which I keep purely for reminiscing purposes. Books I try to sell back to Cal Student Store or Ned’s, though sometimes the used editions that I have are too “used” (too much highlighting, etc.) to be sold back.

For classes where meaningful notes are required for me to do well, I’ll write them, then type them up. The written ones I will usually file after the semester and might get rid of them after a year or two, when they are likely not useful anymore.

As for textbooks, I’ll sell them back if I can get good money on them, but otherwise I will usually keep them.

I rarely take lecture notes and I wonder why other people are taking notes in class when everything is on the slides.

Writing things down seems to help people remember things. So even if notes are online, there are people that like to take notes anyway.

I am not one of those people.

Notes during lecture are kind of a distraction for me; I would rather pay attention to what the lecturer is saying rather than try write and listen at the same time. When I get confused about stuff, I go back to to the notes online later.

I actually never throw away notes for classes. in fact, i saved my ap chem notes from HS and they are sort of what got me through chem 1a. if its something like anthro which i dont think i will ever use again, ill trash the notes, donate the reader, and just keep papers for memories. if i get >= 70% of what i paid for a textbook, ill sell it, if not i keep it.

Yeah, I find that the studying that the extent of the studying I need to do, is to go over my notes, type them up into a study guide (fairly long) and then condense that to a study sheet (1-3 pages).

I sell the books and unload all the notes into plastic bags. The bags get loaded into a box back home and slowly I get forced to throw away some of the bags.

For important UD classes, I keep the books.

I find myself referring to the Math1A/1B/53 textbook(Stewart’s Calculus) as well as the math 110 textbook all the time for upper division coursework in math/econ/stats. I generally don’t need the notes for the classes though since wikipedia is usually sufficient.

I write things down and keep them cause I spend a lot of time writing neat so it’d be a waste for me to throw it away. off to class. see ya!

since I’m done after this sem (one more month, yay!), I have to decide what go home with me.
it’s a struggle. I only want to take note/book that I may need in future job, but I don’t want to throw away the neatly written notes (though I have to.)
one more question, anyone know will my bspace account get cancel after I grad?

not sure, but your dreamspace account will. : ]

what are you doing after you graduate? and have you lived in the same apartment or house for all 3 yearS? i’m wondering if ppl move around every year or not? is that typical?

Only physics 7A/B.

Kept everything else. Math 126 was useful.

I’m definitely keeping my Chem 112A, 120A notes. Maybe not 104A…

I kept all my notes as a sort of sentimental thing (I spent so much time writing them up!) without any intention of ever reading through them. But I’ve come to realize that like all the social sciences mix with each other and notes from one class really helps me understand a concept taught in another class.
