I trust most people having applied have received their log in information for the Application Status website. I was just wondering if anyone else seems to be missing everything from their school? Of all the schools S applied to, Amherst is the only one that didn’t already have his information totally received when he got log in info.

I had our school check yesterday to make sure it was sent and they went one step further and called Amherst. But Amherst told them, of course, to wait the two weeks before re-sending.

I fully understand they have huge amounts of documents to catalog, but it struck me since all schools he applied to were sent out the same time and the rest are all complete. So…if your documents are or are not complete, do you know when your school sent their stuff? Ours sends the whole package at once (inc recs in sealed envelopes so that the counselors don’t even read them) and ours was mailed Dec 15.

Well, I am an international applicant. I did not even receive the log in information. Few days ago, Amherst sent me an email acknowledging the receipt of my application. All it said was "over the coming weeks we will let you know, via email, the status of your application."

I wouldn't worry about it just now. I got the log-in-info a week ago and it showed that my school forms were missing, while my fee waiver got approved when I got my application acknowledgement. The fee waiver was in the same envelope as my school forms. They showed up as received yesterday. I sent the school forms in early December. My 2nd Teacher Rec was mailed the same time but it's still missing from my file.

Son got that information Jan 7. And got the log in stuff last week.. so there seems to be almost a week in lag time between acknowledgment and receipt of log in information. I don't know what the schedule differences would be for international vs US applicants, or if there even is one.

How long do you think it will take them, even with extra help, to put thousands of apps together that they received on 12-31, when the school is officially closed? Not to worry. Once they are all together, they will notify you.

It's not a question of IF they are doing their job and doing it the best they can. I am sure they are to both. I was just curious to know if there are a lot of people where it shows they have all their info in and if so, when they may have sent it.

And if not for the fact that all the other schools with online application status pages to which S applied have all his information received, I wouldn't even have the question.

I am thinking not Yelle... give them until the first of february before you call them. If you submitted the common application that website will tell you when they downloaded your stuff. I think S may have been ahead of the curve on the log in stuff simply because he paid the application fee Dec 12. of course this is just a guess.

I applied (on paper) in November, and I had my log in info within two weeks. Of course, that was before the rush of applications probably started. But, yes, I do have some documents which I know were sent that are unrecorded. Both of my teacher recs. are unrecorded, and I know that one (if not both) were sent in a timely manner. It seems that Amherst just stopped cataloguing documents, which I personally think is ridiculous. Princeton has 25,000+ applicants and they can record a document within two days of its receipt!

Point taken. I took to reading many college newspapers over the past several months as my son explored the college, curriculums and various personalities (both real and rumored) of schools. And I have to say that some schools have better papers than others. And while I know Amherst just got back from interim (or whatever they call the month), I wonder... if they aren't updating their school's paper online, how much priority can they be placing on updating prospective student website?

I guess what you really hope is that they are doing the personal work of reviewing and compiling applications vs. worrying about updating a computer program? However, if there is an automated web-based system, does it become the student's responsibility to make sure the school has everything or does the school still contact the student if something like a transcript or recommendation is missing?

While I have said all other schools with an online tracking system have all of my son's stuff, our GC was really surprised by this and thought that typically more schools would be like what we're experiencing with Amherst... as in, it's there just not recorded.

I hoping that's what this problem will turn out to be. Like you, I also wonder if the schools will still contact for missing information. To again use Princeton as an example, they have an online system but still say that they will contact students with missing documents when the time comes.

Is there a deadline for getting EVERYTHING in?
Does anyone know the general deadline for most schools? ie. mid-February
Most schools will contact the student if they are missing papers, is that right?

Alright! Good to know Yelle... but are all your documents received (barring your midterm reports of course)? Still missing all of the school's docs on Amherst's website, but my son got his report card for first semester last Friday. Today, I got an email from his GC saying the goal was that she hoped to have all midterm reports mailed Friday.

They have received my test scores, teacher evaluations, and of course the application and supplement. But my school transcript and counselor recommendation is still being shown "missing." However, My school sent all the materials, including the teacher evaluations, in one packet. So, I guess they received everything, but have not sorted everything out yet.

yay, I just got mine today! I signed in and they were like they're missing essay 1 and essay 2, in addition to mid year (which I know isn't going to back until next week), first term grades (which I need to check up with my school because that makes no sense!)..But then again I applied through the Questbridge application, no common app, but I did do the supplement, grrr...I hope I don't have to send it in again!

Superwoman.. As BB012 said, all of the stuff was sent in one packet (same with my son) and some are there and some arent yet noted. Wait until next week to let them catch up. Maybe admissions Dan will come on and give us a TAMS update kind of thing. But hopefully he is swamped in trying to evaluate applications!
