Dodmerb

I understand that DODMERB is a medical exam, but what does it test? When will they contact you about setting up an appointment? Anybody with experience(passed DODMERB) care to comment? There isn't a whole lot out there about DODMERB that I could find, so I'm just wondering what its all about. Thanks.

my son had to do this so I will tell you what I know. You will be sent a letter telling you to call a dodmerb subcontractor who handles all the exams you can set everything up on their website the info will be in the letter. You call the places that will conduct the exams to set up appts. med exam isn't much but they will test your urine. Make sure you rest for 2 days prior if you are involved in physical sports or you will probably fail the urine test. also you will have to fill out a history questionaire that will be on line for you and also one will be sent with your letter fill them out and take it with you to your exam. Also they will test your hearing. You will also have to set up an eye exam at an optomitrist they will provide the number to call. Hope this helps. But as far as I know You won't get this untill you have applied and completed your application to the acdemy.

i failed that urine test. i was doing xc the whole week before i took the test, and even with 3 days of rest, i still had protien in it. however, i did manage to take the test again and pass it.

you'll get a letter from dodmerb once you finish a certain part of your application to wherever that you're applying to. i think it's osmethign like half way, then they'll send you via snail mail.

Thanks guys.

If I remember correctly, you will be notified by DoDMERB after you have been issued your candidate number...which you will get starting late June-August (depending on when your peliminary application was processed)....

a suggestion we found helpful was to complete/sumbit the paperwork as soon as you get it, and set up your appointments before classes resume in Sept....this will allow you plenty of time to address any issues that may kick out during the process...

advice for urine analysis is to "hold back" on heavy activities (sports) for 5 or more days prior to testing, to eliminate any protein/ketones in urine...and stay hydrated....

Alright, I have a candidate number already for West Point, and I will be sending my Preliminary into USNA on Feb 1, when NASS applications open. As for the take it easy part, I definately would not have thought about that. Thank you guys.

The test tests just about everything related to your health: eyesight, hearing, blood pressure, pulse, etc. They look you over for any skin diseases, issue a urine test, check for hernias. You will go to a civilian doctor that has been contracted out by DoDMERB for your exam. Prior to the exam you will have to fill out a history questionnaire in which you note any previous or current medical conditions.

As a side note, I hate going to the doctors and feared that I would be disqualified because of my blood pressure. However, I was honest and was eventually qualified after going through additional testing after the exam results were analyzed after the initial exam. My advice is to be honest and not worry about it. If ou are truly healthy, you shouldn't have anything to fear.

marineman- glad to hear you have been cleared by DoDMERB after all the BP worry!!!! Keep the faith!
