I'm a student from CC in west LA. I was planning to transfer an UC/CSU next year. But right now my GPA is only 3.0 and I have 6 Ws on my transcript. Because I wanted to finish my school ASAP, but I have to work full time job. So, I dropped many classes. Does the 6 Ws really hurt me to transfer to an UC/CSU? I know 6 Ws looks so bad on transcript. Do I still have a chance to go to an university? I have a lot of pain right now and want to quit from college. Please help me !!!

Yes. One or two with a good explanation wouldn’t have killed you but six is just bad. That GPA isn’t great for either CSUs or UCs. I recommend you pull your GPA up and apply in a couple years.

^I have 7W’s, yes 7 with a 3.05GPA and I got into most of my choices for EE (minus sdsu, cause idgaf) for CSU’s/UC’s. I asked an admin for UCI/UCR/UCLA and they straight up told me that they pretty much don’t care about W’s but if you have a ton (refer to the guy who had 23W’s) then you can just explain it in your personal statements. They just care about your major pre-reqs.

CSU’s don’t even care, with the exception of SLO (but they weigh EC significantly more so it balances out if you have EC).

W’s come into consideration when you’re applying for grad school.

tl;dr W’s aren’t that bad, raise your GPA if you want to go to the higher UC’s but you’re still fine for CSU’s/UCR/M and you’re ok for UCI (certain majors). Don’t expect UCB/LA since… well that’s obvious.
