Does 98.5 (11 right, 1 wrong) ever make AIME?

see above. made a dumb mistake... :(

no it doesn't. Cutoff has almost always been 100. Sorry.

yeah I figured. Oh well.

I'm so sorry to hear that! That nearly happened to me; I took the AMC12B today and got 13 right and 1 wrong. 105.5 If I filled in a wrong blank, it'll be 99.5 I just hope I filled in everything correctly.

is a 131 overall score (with AIME) worth mentioning on an application??

Yes, that is a good score, definately mention it.

Last year I got 99.5 and it didn't count. It killed me. :(

Yeah, that's why if you're not as experienced (like me), it's not worth answering 12 instead of 11 that you're sure about.

Edit: About the 131 above, is that an index, like AMC + AIME?

i got a 109 12B, made a real dumb mistake, should have had 115 :(

what was the answer to the license plate/child one? I think I had 11 correct, and went for that one...

No, it usually doesn't, unless it's a very hard test.

And I don't think the director of the AMC wants us to discuss untill Thursday.

Oh ok. I guess we can discuss tomorrow then!

i believe the license plate/child one was 5. i dint get this one, but someone else did...i only answered 11...i'll discuss the answers tomorrow then

It's theoretically possible, but that would only happen in a ridiculously difficult year. The only time it's happened (and also the year that, I believe, brought on the 5% rule) was in 2001, when the cutoff was 84. Don't plan on a lowered cutoff, ever.

And yes, you should wait to discuss the test until at least tomorrow.

its possible, but I blieve this exam was not exceptionally difficult , so not likely to have a cut off lowered.

as for the 131, if thats the index score it means you only got 3 question right maximum on AIME? ... while making AIME is worth mentioning, I don't think it'll do much good to put down that score.

Yeah -- the 2001 AMC.

just mention "AIME qualifier"

Doesn't the pamphlet say 100+ or top 5% take AIME?
So, if a 98.5 happens to be in the top 5%, then i guess maybe?

It won't be. More and more people take the test each year. Unlikely that it would fall below 100 after several years of 100 as the cutoff.

i just answered 11 questions and got them right which brely made me qualofy...so unless ur sure, dont answer more than 11
