does a W on a transcript even matter when applying for jobs/internships?

Im thinking about withdrawing from my physics class but only after i get my prelim grade. however, it will be passed the withdrawal date and i would end up with a W.

does it even matter when im applying for an internship? dont they only look at my resume

doesn’t matter. i know a kid with 4 W’s who managed to get an internship at a top consulting firm. only thing that matters is your GPA.

I think it matters. Employers will ask.

Employers will ask. D had a W in one of her “major” classes and she was asked about it when she was in the process of obtaining her summer internship. However, it was due to outside scheduling conflicts, and since she could explain this and point to her high marks in all other related coursework, it was not a negative factor.

OTOH, another place didn’t even bring it up.

It’s hit or miss. Have a good reason. But, that could be said for almost anything.

ok thanks. i want to drop my physics class because i did so bad on the first prelim.

i studied everything for days and never missed a lecture and understood everything we went over. but some how this guy puts stuff on the test that he never explained and isnt in the textbook. so, i want to drop it since im an AEM major and can take any physics i want. ill take an eaasier one in the spring
