Does accepting financial aid (pell grant, sub loans etc) mean you have to go to that school?

Also, do other colleges see when you accept financial aid awards from a different college? I accepted UAlabama fin aid offers as I though there might be a deadline, now I have all these questions

I have a lot more decisions left too so I’m a little scared that it might affect those…

You can accept admission and financial aid, then decide to go somewhere else. Let Bama know you have changed your mind and you will probably just lose your deposit for housing.

IF you change your mind, let Alabama know.

This will not affect admissions decisions at other colleges. Other colleges do not know where you applied…or if you have accepted aid or placed deposits.

But if you change your mind about Alabama, please let them know.

Yeah, I didn’t commit I just accepted the financial aid, but because it’s federal loans and work-study, I thought maybe other colleges could see it from FAFSA or something? That’s not possible right?

Or am I just being paranoid?

Like thumper1 said, other schools can’t see that you accepted UA’s aid.

Other schools cannot see your accepting loans, etc., and in fact you can’t get any of that money unless you actually go to that school. You can accept the FA at several schools but can only receive the funds from one school, the school you actually attend come August.

Ok thx, my nerves are just peaking because my top colleges’ (Tufts, Rice, Yale) decisions are coming out soon. This was a relief and thank you guys :). I also contacted the fin aid office to tell them that I still had to compare offers so they changed it back to the selecting option. Thank you guys again, and pray for me
