<p>I think they do somewhat. I indicated that I wanted to major in English and I’m pretty darn sure that I only got accepted for my essays, because it certainly wasn’t my ECs that did it. I used my essays to show my technique, creativity, and most importantly, my personality. Just use your essays to express your desire to pursue whatever major you intended. It will help them understand you better and make a more informed decision. Best of luck to you :)</p>
<p>Nah, no one gets accepted solely for their essays. But I do imagine that your interests set a frame of mind with which you adcom considers your application.</p>
