Does any know about National Merit?

<p>I read somewhere on CC that UF was reconsidering the amount of money offered for National Merit scholars because of their low turnout last year when it was dropped to $1000 a year. Has any heard anything else on this matter? Like if they are increasing it or something?</p>

<p>Also I was speaking to a UF representative at a college fair and she said that National Merit scholars are automatically admitted to the honors program or something along those lines. Is this true? because it was a very rushed conversation and the people in there were pretty loud.</p>

<p>The honors college requirement is a 2070 SAT and that's it, as far as I know. If you've got national merit, you scored at least 60 points above that a year earlier. Maybe that's what she meant?</p>
