Does anyone else feel like majority of transfer students here are grossly subpar??

I’m getting a berkeley degree at 1/10th the price. I got to bypass all the weeder courses and got to experience a social life while being able to get work experience because I was taking easy community college courses. I’m pretty sure in the end, I win.

I had a REAL college experience and I’m paying for 1/20th of the price because I’m smart and got scholarships to pay for most. I win! hahha I swear this has turned into a ****ing contest.

I was at a party having a real good time with a girl; we had sex. Then I found out she was a transfer student. ■■■.

Is a real college experience spending your weekends studying and doing homework? Because I traveled the world during my college experience and served my country at the same time. It’s 1/10 the price for me regardless of scholarships and financial aid. Actually, I don’t even pay at all, your hard earned tax dollars do. Thank you G.I. Bill and taxpayers, in that order.

By the way, I still win. And my stream is longer. And I’m better looking. Ha!

your 3.3 in anthropology says different…

123456789bc, wow you have subpar reading skills. I can’t believe i will be going to school with such a d0uche.

re-read my post and make a proper inference on why my GPA is low.

you’re not being fair at all.

i am a stronger student for being through the good, the bad and the ugly.

i had my share of trials and errors and have acquired skills that will help me succeed. there is no where for me to go but up.

see you on campus 123456789bc :)

Uh does that mean everybody with a bad GPA should be accepted because they have gone through a lot and learn through it? This is assuming those with 4.0+ have learned nothing and that they have no life skills…which is not true.

no that is not what i mean, my situation is unique as is my experience. yeah many people F-up in different majors and many 4.0 students have life experience.
but i presented my personality and academic history to the University of California Berkeley and the admissions officers and deans saw something in me as a student that would help make Berkeley a stronger academic community.

not everyone with a “bad” GPA should be accepted but only those
few of us that can demonstrate how strong we are after setbacks and can write eloquently should be accepted. we have what it takes to earn an upward trend while handling work, personal life and school work. we can make intelligent contributions and the University of California Berkeley agrees.

but why are y0u using 2 screen names? :D

I’m amused by how the transfers keep mentioning how they have had “real life experience” and have “done things we (freshman admits) never will”

Lone first of all, I have no interest in serving my country through the armed forces, I’ve seen how the government constantly send people for extra tours, and I have no interest in sharing in that “college experience”. Congrats on making something out of your position in the military, but it doesn’t make your experience better than someone who put in hard work at college busting his/her ass and doing well.

And jane, you have a 3.3 in CC, don’t make excuses for it. Your not the only one who has to juggle work, a personal life, and school.

here here…

thumbs up

This thread reminds me of how intensely eager I am to graduate and leave Berkeley forever.

jealous that they didnt need to work as hard OP??? u mad? yeah, u mad.

i am not making up excuses for my GPA. re-read my posts. you are so subpar.

and 123456789bc why am i using 2 screen names…cuz i p0p like that.

nah if you’re curious PM me. its a funny story.

Why are you calling others subpar when it’s obvious that you are the one who is subpar. It doesn’t matter how you cut it, a 3.3 at a CC is pathetic in all sense for Cal. There is a reason why they have CSUs.

if i am subpar then Berkeley is subpar.

why would i attend a CSU when i have been accepted to subpar Berkeley…damn you kids shoulda picked Cornell…you shoulda picked Stanford.

you get subpar kids like me at Berkeley…oh wait…you must be subpar and didn’t have any other choice but Berkeley.
and if you did have other choices and picked Berkeley you are clearly subpar for going to Berkeley when you knew exactly how they love students like me.

way to go.

I wouldn’t say Berkeley “loves” students like you…more like it had slim pickings to fill its CC quota. I’m just glad that subpar transfers gravitate to PACS, anthro and other soft majors and don’t go into the sciences/engineering, at least those transfers impress me most of the time.

cool story bro, because the transfers goal in life is to impress calbear2012.

yeah lemme just say that Berkeley loves me, they wanted me so bad they gave me more financial aid than all the other UC’s. the undergrad adviser wanted to recruit me so bad that she gave an hour of her time to talk to me…not even a student yet…
i can guarantee you when it comes to me, i am not just a quota filler. Berkeley is Berkeley because they seek the brightest and most promising students. sometimes the brightest and most promising doesn’t translate in to high GPA or test scores but translates into someone who started in a completely opposite direction has an upward trend, is a leader at school and in the community and writes like a madwoman.

each and every student that got admitted to Berkeley, transfer or otherwise has something that Berkeley desires to have in their academic community.

we are not subpar, if we are subpar it makes you subpar…it makes Berkeley subpar.

our GPA doesn’t transfer over, so when we graduate we will graduate with a Berkeley earned GPA.

you make me lol.

calbear has a nasty inferiority complex.
