I absolutely hate it when teachers assign mandatory posters. I guess I'm not creative or artsy but I always draw a blank when I have to make a poster. I've even opted for writing a paper or taking a test when a teacher has given me the option and I'd do it again.

Lazy teaching.
Useless busy work they glance at it for 1 nanosecond.

Nope. I’ve got the creative touch. I love creative projects like that because that means I get to go to Michael’s and let my imagination free.

No i love poster projects! They are my favorite, i always get a’s.

I dislike any project where I have to present. (I’m awful at presenting and I stutter (only while presenting) and forget so many of the things I planned to say while up there)

yeah , presenting sucks. I just like taking my creativeness out on a board and getting a grade for having some fun.

Niquii thanks for pointing out why poster projects are worth hating. A students grade shouldn’t depend on how much money he or she can spend.

I can present pretty well. I never formally plan what I’m going to say. If I have to do a lot of speaking I review the gist of it, the main points I want to make, and when the real thing comes I stem off of that.

If it’s not a group thing, I always ask if the option to write a paper exists. If it does, I take it. Posters take too much work for me, haha. I love art and being creative, but, usually, given the situation, it’s just not worth the effort.

lldm, same here. I can bang out a paper in an hour, two tops but a poster takes me upwards of 3 hours.

I don’t like poster projects, but they are easy so I could care less. I can do a ton of illustrations quickly, so if I don’t know what to do I just put a few large illustrations in.

I can’t draw to save my life, so I hate when it’s a poster project and the teacher makes you draw. If you can use clip art, I don’t mind them :).

I actually like having a creative project assignment every once in a while! Writing papers and taking tests all the time gets boring.

I hate it when I get an art assignment shoved down my throat in a non art class. English teachers seem to assign them the most.

^@TS1125: I couldn’t agree with you more!!! I loved my english teacher this past year, but the first project she assigned was a 3D project, and it took me soooo long!! The actual writing part wasn’t that hard. The part where I had to make my project 3D was difficult. I prefer writing papers too. The thing is, lots of teachers look for proper grammar and stuff like that. I like it when I can write a paper and grammar isn’t the majority of the grade. Posters are okay. The part I like about posters is that I get to make the title in bubble letters and other cool writing font.

Just because I go to Michael’s doesn’t mean I spend a lot of money. To be honest, just give me markers an colors paper and I can make a great poster.

i liked making posters because i liked drawwwwwwwwwwwwing.

I like poster projects for the easy A, but I hate the fact that teachers still assign them especially in AP classes where everyone has a huge test they should be studying for instead.

I hate them primarily because I have no artistic talent whatsoever. I also don’t really see their purpose. How does a poster allow us to learn more effectively than writing an essay or some other NORMAL homework assignment that kids living in the rest of the world do???

Posters, depending on the requirements for the assignment, actually force the student to learn the topic.

^ True, but wouldn’t an essay or some other assignment do the same?? AND in a shorter amount of time?
