yeah. we have something like that at my school. we have to teach some snotty little kids something and we have to write a ten page assignment on it. =O

For our senior project, we have to intern/volunteer a minimum of 180 hours (I think that’s for the whole year, but I could be mistaken) doing something that we’re either really interested in or that has something to do with our prospective major in college.

Then we have to write a 20-25 page paper and give a presentation(45-50 minutes long) in May to the whole highschool (which is only like 30 people, but still), the school board, all the teachers, the person we interned with, and a few other people to be picked at the principals discretion…

Also, the project has to take at least 8 class periods a week, 4 of which is supposed to be spent interning, and the other 4 researching.

all in all, I hate the idea of a senior project. This is the first year we’ve had to do it and we all think it’s complete and utter bull****

Yeah, it was awesome. I spent 3 weeks in Poland and Israel visiting concentration camps, traveling, and hanging out with other kids. I did like a 10 minute powerpoint presentation talking about my experience and showing pictures.

We have it here too. It’s a graduation requirement that all seniors have to take. It’s pretty tedious and it can make or brake your grade. There’s a big research assignment you have to do. Then you have to go out into the community. You also have to make a speech in front of a panel of judges. It makes senior year miserable if you get caught up in it.

BUT…North Carolina passed a bill stating that it’s no longer a requirement for class of 2011 and onwards. I graduate in 2011. :D
