Does anyone else here have very few ECs?

I'm staring at part 9 of my UW app where I have to write a journal of up to five activities or achievements and what they say about me. Problem is, I don't really have any, nor do I really have any EC activities in general. I know that CC is mostly made up of overachievers, but there has to be a few people out there in my situation too...

Yeah, I got into the bad habit of quitting my activities. It’s weird because I never quit because I stopped wanting to do it. Something always just happened to make me quit.

Yep, I only have Band. I don’t have anything else, unfortunately.

I have very few important ones.

Rotary Club president/founder. Potentially governor of district.
Eagle Scout

Wow, that’s like two important ones.

Then I have:

Piano since age 5. But I’m not that good.
Skiing since age 4. But I’m not that good.

WOW. I have to have more…

WOW, no one cares. Have you ever thought of being more humble? All I see is you prancing around bragging about your academic achievements.

Ya it’s quite humbling to see some of the achievements posted on here. Yet I guess it can help encourage people to try some new things maybe?

I’m impressed with my EC’s, though there are people on CC who could all but make professors feel bad about themselves. The problem is that most all of the normal ECs in high school don’t amount to anything because the average high school student doesn’t know anything, doesn’t really think, and doesn’t really apply his or herself. I mean think about what a high school science club at a normal high school actually does–not to mention how elections happen. Most CCers have to end up inventing their own ECs, and it’s not easy to move and be that independent.

I don’t have like any…

well I have basketball, but im just varsity. Not a captain or anything

I always feel so bad when all the people on CC write a whole page just listing

their ECs

^^^^

Lol? Look who’s talking. You’re the one that made this thread.

What? I made this thread to see how many people out there didn’t have very many ECs. You have good ECs. I have a feeling you only posted to gloat about what you have, much like how you posted your “IQ” in your public profile.

I have very few ECs as well. No, that is an exaggeration. I have no ECs.

Haha, almost none of my EC’s are school related (if that helps). I’m barely in any clubs (1 or 2, depending on whether the literary magazine is considered a club), and I’m not one of those kids who does a crazy amount of work around the school and whom everybody knows (i.e. Student Council President). And I don’t have like 7 or 8 either; I just have about 4 that I really love.

My only school-related EC is varsity bowling (yes, bowling). However if I were you I would look for ways to pursue your interests outside of school. Pick one or two things you really enjoy, and put everything you’ve got into developing them as much as possible. I’ve been programming games, tools, and libraries in C++ for years now and I’ve got dozens of completed pieces of software to show for it.

If, for instance, you like writing, participate in NaNoWriMo next year, enter as many essay contests as possible, join forums online to further improve your writing, and start a blog. If you’re into graphic design, save up for a copy of Photoshop & Illustrator CS4 and start learning about website & logo design, or start a webcomic, or learn 3D modeling and sell your work for a nice profit.

The point I’m trying to make is that there is much more to life than school extra-curriculars. Find something you like and learn about it. It’s not too late, even if you’re writing college apps at this very moment. If you devote yourself to an activity enough, great things can happen in a matter of weeks.

Don’t worry, I have very few ECs. Like, less than 5. And the ones that I’m in, I’m not very active in them. Oh well.

I don’t have any ECs either. I had to complete this one college app where I had to list at least 3 email addresses of people that are familiar with my activities outside of school. Haha right…do video games count? :)

I have a bunch! Let’s see…
Varsity Cross Country
Varsity Track and Field
Dance Team
Competetive Wakeboarding
National Honor Society
Enviromental Club
Yearbook Photo Editor
Literary Magazine Staff
Builder’s Club
Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Diamond Dolls
Cultural Exchange Club
Junior Civitans

Diamond Dolls?

Can you please clarify what that is?
Because, um… Around my area that’s a strip club. And I’m assuming that’s not what you meant, but now I’m curious. o.o

I hate ECs… seriously. I’m in a few clubs but am not what would be called a “leader.”
I dunno, I don’t have the drive, I guess.
Instead of writing about school ECs, why not write about your hobbies?

Haha, no I’m not a stripper! Diamond Dolls is this club that helps out the baseball team. We do things like run the concession stand, sell tickets, and make baskets of snacks for the players.

Yea, my EC’s are pretty pathetic. I did Speech Team for part of 9th and 10th grades. I’m in three clubs this year, and I plan on doing all of them next year. I might also be helping out at a food bank soon too. I’m trying to catch up.
