Does anyone have a pet they are totally responsible for? Is it very time consuming? I've never had one, but now I'm older I think I might try with a guinea pig...
But I'm really busy, I don't know if I can give that much commitment..

almost every pet I ever had died a terrible death. My little brother used to pluck bird feathers, and once left them in the garden and they were eaten by a stray cat, lol. He accidentally stepped on my pet turtle, and I forgot to feed the other turtle for a few days and it died. Our cat ran away, LOL. Our frog got dissected, lol....the list goes on, and on! So I doubt that I'm the best person to give you advice on pet care...

Try a plant first. If you can keep it alive for six months, you might be ready for a pet . . .

some plants require much more care than any pet...some pets are actually nice to have around (As long as they're kept in a cage: like a Hamster or something)...

what about the smell?

cat "pepper" (it's a black cat)

Ugh. You'll get sick of it after a few years.

then why, in movies, are people so attached to their pets as if they were their own children or something?

i have had my cat for 7 years.......he's the best! smart too...

I used to have a dog. They're really good pets, but they require tons of work.

I have fish.

"Does anyone have a pet?"

No, no one has a pet.

Movies are fictional...

I have a dog, and I actually am really attached to her (but not in a creepy, obsessive way).
She's an idiot, though. I have perhaps the stupidest dog ever.
I don't think that taking care of her is terribly difficult. My sister feeds her in the morning, I feed her at night, and we take turns taking her out.

I had a cat, but he died to a falling rock trap on dungeon level 1.

We have two dogs, a tailless cat which lives outside, some wild bunnies that now have a hutch in my garage and a beta fish that refuses death. My D has had this fish in her room for 7 years. It's name is Tammy Amber. I hate that fish.

All others ok

I eat my dogs.

1 rat and 3 cats. Hardest part is keeping the rat's cage safe.

I have 2 dogs. One of them is my sole responsibility. Get a small pet like a fish and move your way up. Taking care of a pet is a BIG responsibility. I have to get up about a half hour early to go run around with her outside, I take her for at least 2 walks everyday (she's a pitbull with a lot of energy), I feed both dogs, I clean their cages, and I have to give her a bath at least twice a week. They're so much work, but worth it.
