Does anyone know anything about Art 8?

I was thinking of taking Art 8, basically introduction to the practice of art. I took art classes in high school but I'm definitely not legit enough to be an art major or anything, I'd just be doing it for breadth/fun. Is it really demanding in terms of time and work? What's the final like? Is it appropriate for non art majors?

And, do you have any other classes you'd recommend for the arts and lit requirement? I already know about Children's Lit, and they're not offering it for fall 2011.

easy peasy. my sister who is an art major took it but its little work even for a non-major. id have taken it for an easy A if id had the room in my schedule.

I’ve heard Art 8 is easy. You have 3+ hours of studio work though!

Good to know! Thanks for the info. I am a little wary of having long studio hours but I figure since they’re hands-on hours they’ll be a lot better than sitting in a lecture hall.

I’m also considering Theater 10, and I’ve read on Course Rank that it’s a pretty good class. So if anyone knows anything about that, let me know too! :)

In that case you might want to consider Theater 52AC:

-It fulfills Arts & Lit req
-It fulfills AC (American Cultures) req
-Just 3 hours of lecture/wk
-Just 2 midterms and final
-Enjoyable material
-Easy class (most people don’t do any of the HW assignments…)

I agree, TDPS 52AC is a good way to fulfill the AC requirement and arts and lit breadth. It doesn’t require you to write papers or anything which most AC classes do. Just go to lecture and pay attention and you will be fine. But beware, it is highly boring if you are not a dancer or interested in dance history! However, it is easy as long as you put effort and some time into studying. I enjoy some of the materials that we have covered so far. Very eye-opening experience and allows you to learn about other groups of people and their dances! weebly, are you also taking TDPS 52AC this semester?

@steven: Yeah, taking it this semester. I’ve actually been skimming the reader but they’re not much help for exams.

True, she only tests you on what she covers in lecture. Therefore, reading those long articles are kind of pointless :(
