Believe me, I am well aware of how desperate I must appear after posting this but it really isn't like that at all. I'd just like to have an idea of what my summer courses are going to look like

I know SFS is the toughest, but I applied to the College...are there any stats specifically on the college as it relatest to transfers?

SFS and Nursing are both 13%. Those are the only ones I know for sure. I saw the paper during my interview that had the stats on it, I think everything was in the mid to upper 20's? I could be wrong, but for some reason 23% and 28% are sticking out in my mind.

7 or 15!!! Holy smokes...all the luck in the world to you :)

I'm really hoping for G'Town because I'm so excited about their summer language programs, plus of course the languages they have during regular semester of course. I'd also like to intern somewhere this summer rather than just working another dead end/dishwashing job

Yeah..it is sorta rough, the 7-15 thing. But, not a lot of people apply actually. It's odd..last year they had 53 applications, and they accepted 7. However, on monday I spoke to one of the nursing admissions people who does a lot with transfers so I could figure out what to take this summer to be on track for the fall (if I get accepted). I was asking about applications and everything, and he said not to worry too much, because not a lot of the applicants from last year were even competitive. He had my transcript in front of him and said that I would be competitive in last years pool. They haven't started to look at this years aps yet though, but shouldn't be too different. My thing is, why in the world would you even apply and waste the $65 dollars if you're not a strong canidate?? It just doesn't make any sense to me..

What are the summer language programs? I really don't know too much outside of the school of nursing and health sciences. I feel like I'm applying to a whole different University sometimes..I'm oblivious at times! I'm sure internships aren't too hard to come by..I'm REALLY looking forward to research assistant oppritunites..I just want to go in general..

Wouldn't the very fact that the applicant pool is not competive be sufficient motive for applying regardless of your stats? Logically, the less competitive the applicant pool is, the more your chances of acceptance increase.

The summer language program is ill, at least in regards to what I'm studying: Arabic. Georgetown is the only school in the nation, actually the Western hemisphere, that offers courses on regional Arabic dialects. For me this is of immense interest and importance because written Arabic (i.e. Standard Arabic that is tought in other universities) is entirely different than spoken Arabic.

I don't know what my chances are though. This could potentially be my third school which automatically hinders my chances, not to mention my attrocious SAT score...although that was taken 5 years ago so I'm skeptical as to the impact it will have. I'm so proud of the essays I sent in though...they should work to my advantage as should my REASON for transferring (Only intensive Arabic program available), my GPA is good, nothing spectacular 3.7. And I also have some extracurriculars that I guarentee no one else has

I have high hopes. I've met a few folks who got into G'Town with 1200 SAT's out of high school so I know my attempts are far from futile. I'm not going to lie though, it is a bit intimidating

I think you have a great reason for transferring and that should help alot. How have you done so far during your first semester at Tufts (also where did you transfer from again)?

You know, you didn't even have to send in your SAT scores if you took them five years ago. I took mine in 2000, I didn't send SAT's or HS transcripts, as they said they didn't need them since I have been out of HS for so long. They're much more concerned with college performance, as it's the most recent and reflects you as a college student.

As far as the stats go..When I said that a lot of the 50 applications weren't competitive, I meant that they were below par. I don't think that some of them even met transfer GPA/Pre-Req qualificiations...

Strong essays are important, so it's great that you're proud of them! That's how I feel about mine as well..I know they put a heavy consideration on the essays from the conversations I have had with SHNS admissions people.

I transferred from the University of Southern Maine to Tufts just this January. Tufts is going very well...we took midterms this past week and I know I did well

"You know, you didn't even have to send in your SAT scores if you took them five years ago"

Oh what the...

Where did you hear or read this? I read that SAT's are required for all transfer students. Grrrrr, now they are going to see my attrocious score, not to mention my terrible HS grades. Regardless of whether these elements factor into the decision, I would have preferred for them not to have seen these scores at all...

I just pray that the double transfer is not the kiss of death. I did however explain that I am happy at Tufts, but that Georgetown would be better suited in providing me the career that I hope to persue

I spoke to the Admissions Dept. back in Jan before I even applied, they told me that I didn't have to send SAT scores if they were taken five or more years ago. They said since I have been in CC for 2 years, and out of HS since 2000, that I didn't need to send in my HS transcript either. I also went to an open house for transfer nursing students in Feb. and it was re-emphasised there.
I feel that it's pretty standard at most universities (at least every where I have applied, it's been the case) that if you have completed at least 24 college level credits at TIME of application, not enrollment, then SAT scores may be waived. It makes sense. I mean, I'm almost 23 years old, I started high school nine year ago. (oh my gosh that's depressing <shiver>) why should that be held against me or anyone in a similar situation now when they're excelling at the collegiate level? </shiver>

I can't speak about how a double transfer will effect your chances, so I can really offer no opionin. My advice I guess is to just call admissions, see what they say about SAT's, how much of a role they will play, and maybe ask how your 2x transfer will play out. It never hurts to make yourself known and show initiative.

When I applied to other schools though the applications said specifically that if you've completed X amount of credits that you needn't bother sending in your SAT's, but the G'Town app said they were "required" so I only assumed...man, I suppose I could call the admissions office and perhaps tell them to dispose of them...I doubt that would leave a great impression on them.

The HS records are requested purely for identification records...at least thats what I read on the G'Town website, so I'm not really worried about those as much, but I suppose I shouldn't fret about SAT scores either, even they are seen, because they SHOULD hold no weight in the decision. Still I wonder...

I've tried emailing the admissions department about a dozen times without a response. Strange, nothing is wrong with my email account. I have called several times, but only with minor questions about the application and dates and such...I suppose my questions could be better addressed if I phoned in.

The double transfer might seem a bit sketchy on the exterior, but it is not completely uncommon. There are people at Tufts who transferred twice, there were even two folks I met at the orientation who had transferred 3 and 4 times!!! Now I know Tufts is not nearly as selective as G'Town, but still, Tufts is no cake walk to get into by any means...4 times!!! Holy moly!!!

I'm applying to the MSB. I really hope I get in!!! Ill, I was going to transfer from one state school to another, in the same state, you transferred to a more competitive school didn't you? I don't like the city I'm in (especially when I compare it to G-town's location), nor is there much of a school atmosphere.

I'm worried that I did everything too fast in terms of the application though. I think I'm going to send them supplemental information, maybe clarifying a few things. Do you think will get our replies before June? maybe??
