I got accepted to American for the spring 2016 semester and have committed but I want to get a head start on my credits. So I wanted to take courses at my local community college MCCC (Mercer County Community college) for the summer and all but I’m worried that if I take the classes and they don’t transfer. So will AU take the credits if I take them at MCC?
Sjamal. I used to work in admissions for a small LAC. Call to speak with an admissions rep to learn which, if any, courses they might accept and what grade you’ll need to get. This is a busy time and you may need to wait to have the conversation, but you have time. Just make sure you speak to someone first - don’t want to waste money.
Sjamal, I was accepted having completed 65 community college credits, of those they took 56 credits. The only ones that didn’t transfer were classes that have nothing to do with my intended major (business and phys. ed classes). If it helps, I went to CC in North Carolina and everything seemed to work out.
Of my 50 community college credit, they took 40. So in short, yes they do accept them!
