Hey just wondering if these factors come into play:

-Previously being rejected
-Attending a Transfer Day Seminar

Additionally, I am in a fraternity. How is this perceived from an admission's stand point? I am kinda worried it may send the wrong message that I just like to get drunk off my a$$ and mess around in college.

I think some schools do; Rice University does not have a single fraternity or sorority on campus, and I believe they have students sign a form which prevents them from joining one.

I think being previously rejected is actually better, since it shows interest (along with the Transfer Day Seminar).

I 2nd the rejection...I think it shows interest and passion to go to a school. Compared to previously accepted, then you turned down their spot. I dunno, i don't work for the schools but it just makes more sense to me!

its probably good. i applied to UIUC after HS and didnt get in, but its my dream to go there. i applied for soph year after spending a year at IU. they just need my spring grades now, to confirm that the fall wasnt a fluke or somethign bc i got a great GPA. they said in the letter asking for spring grades "we appreciate your continued interest in the University of Illinois and your paitence during the review process" blah blah. i think its good that they know you have real dedication to attend their school. good luck!

Perhaps, but a lot of competitive schools take "interest" into account. I know numerous instititutions that record how many times you call or append your application and so forth.

I believe it's not necessary to supply your name to any school that you have called. Although I called a lot, I am sure I won't be recorded, how would that be fair?

There was a recent invention known as "Caller ID"; any near-sophisticated computer system could easily cross-reference the number to a name in their database and record the time such a call was made.

Could this help me? I applied to the University of Miami for the spring 2005 semester and paid the $65 application fee and everything but my high school didnt get them my transcripts on time so they had to reject me. So I chose to re-open up my application for the fall 2005 semester and had to pay a $65 reapplication fee. Would they see this as me having alot of interest? I really want to go there.

do colleges look at old stuff such as essays if we applied before?

They are permitted to use whatever materials they have in their possession. It seems as if it is extremely difficult for colleges to keep all the materials from rejected applicants, so I am guessing that they usually keep the SAT scores and GPA on file

Whateever they keep is what they will use to cross examine you. Don't make the grave mistake of putting down different things from your last app!

So if one lied on their first application, and became honest in the second, there is no hope?
