does cornell look at the writing section

topic above

according to Jason Locke at an info session in August, 2006, Cornell does not consider the SAT writing section yet; they are waiting for more data on how to interpret it. don't know how long that will last, though. might want to check with Mr. Locke in admissions.

Is this true?

Rats. It was S's best section. Disappointing.

I heard the same thing today... that they are collecting data on the writing section but not using it to evaluate prospective applicants.

Not true. According to Steve Helfont , who is in charge of giving admissions tours at ILR , the writing section is considered. It is averaged with the CR section and then added to the math section for an overall score.
