I would like to major in International Business at a well known four year college and then apply to the Haas School of Business at Berkeley. Since I need to apply to the Haas School of Business, I would like to make sure that the four year college I get my BA in is a respectable college, and will set me apart from the others applicants. US News and World Report ranks Creighton as the #1 Regional Universities in the Midwest, that seems pretty prestigious to me.

Good reputation where? In the midwest? Maybe. Northeast? Prob not. Schools like Villanova have “more prestige” in the northeast.

You would need to garner experience before you could apply to MBA programs.

I have been in business in the US for 15 years, never met or heard of Creighton, worked overseas for 15 years before that and NEVER ever seen or heard of Creighton.

So just last week i heard of one my DS14’s friend applying and being admitted, did research to find out where…discovered its a catholic U in the middle of nowhere. No you would not be well served if you wish to get into and progress in business. Get an undergrad at cal or UCLA if you can. Creighton …NO

Creighton is not well known at at all. What else are you looking at?

Ah…Omaha is not the middle of nowhere. In a different age, it was an economic powerhouse on the plains and it remains an interesting city today. And Creighton certainly has its strengths, mostly in health sciences, i.e. medicine. Is it better for a business education than Wharton? I doubt if every successful financier in America attended Wharton.

Creighton has a fine reputation in the Midwest and amongst academia. It is a lovely school and Omaha is a thriving town that is home to 5 Fortune 500 companies, two of which are Mutual of Omaha and Berkshire Hathaway. I’m not from Omaha and have never lived there, but I’ve been there a couple times on business and assure you it is worth a visit if you are interested in Creighton - It really is a nice school.

OP, please do not make your decision based on the comments on this thread. Creighton has an excellent reputation in the midwest, and because of its strength in medical-related fields its program in Health Administration is supposedly very good. “Business” is not only Wall Street.

Creighton’s business school is good and is AACSB accredited.

However, be aware that most people who get MBA’s did not major in business for undergraduate. Engineers are generally the largest contingent of MBA students. And for good reason… the MBA curriculum is heavily math oriented. Also, most people pursuing an MBA have several years of work experience. Rather rare for people to go straight to an MBA program after earning undergraduate degree.

If you are sure that you want to get an undergraduate business degree before getting an MBA, then I highly recommend taking as much math as possible during your undergraduate education. You need at least a full year of calculus, plus a calculus based statistics course.
