I didn't have a chance to visit Dartmouth before applying. I'm going to try to make it up there as soon as possible. I'm just wondering if they'll know during the admissions process that I did finally get the chance visit.

No, they do not track visits. Dartmouth is one of the few (only?) top schools that doesn't consider interest AT ALL. As they say, you show interest by applying. Best of luck to you. If you want to take an online walking tour, go here: Walking Tour

Well, they had me sign something when I visited, if that helps...

^To get you on a mailing list for brochures. And they will also probably mail you an application or once you become a senior.

Just wait and see if you're admitted. If you are, go to Dimensions- the fun three day event for admitted students. Visiting now will not help you get in.

Yeah, I'm not considering visiting just to boost my chances. Seeing as how it is quite a bit of a drive, I think it'd be best to see if I get in first. I just need to visit before I make any life-changing decisions, of course!

Thanks for the advice!

From Massachusetts?? No way.

Imagine if you're accepted and you go there. You'll be making at least four round trips every year. Consider whether you're OK with that.

^I just meant that it's something that has to be planned. It's not like waking up one day and being like, "Hey, let's go to Dartmouth!" Obviously if I was actually going there, I wouldn't be concenred with that.

If you're near Boston, the Dartmouth Coach stops at South Station and is super super convenient, though rather pricey.

Thanks for the info. If I were to go, my dad would definitely insist on driving (and visiting countless relatives on the way). I think the real problem is figuring out a time that fits into everyone's schedules, especially since my dad works a lot.

Emergency!- please answer!!!!
I sent my scores to Dartmouth but the collegeboard website says it is pending right now - I thought I rush reported, but am not sure - Am i dead? because i'm soo about to freak!!!!!

And collegeboard is closed for the weekend and so is Dartmouth!!!!! - they dont have my scores

Don't sweat it, Dartmouth takes January SAT scores - and you don't even have to rush them. They won't mind if your scores are a bit late.

It's a maximum of a three hour drive from anywhere in Massachusetts. That's practically nothing.

^If you read my other posts, you'll see that the 3-hours isn't exactly the main problem, lol.

Please understand, I'm definitely going to try to make it up there! I am extremely interested in Dartmouth and will definitely visit it, I'm just not sure when my family will be able to make the trip.

Most Ivy league schools have enough applicants to the point where they really don't care if you visited or not. Don't sweat it.

^Haha, good point. Thanks. I still think it's quite interesting how Dartmouth considers your application as enough demonstration of interest :)

They explicitly say that they don't care if you visit campus unless you're part of a college recruiting program, in which case you're tagged in the system. But... visit! I know people that visited on a whim, weren't even going to apply before, and decided to after seeing how beautiful Hanover is! Haha, good luck

^I'm sure going to try! And thanks :)
