Does Davidson have score choice?

If I did really badly on an SAT II, do I have to send it in?

I didn’t send any SAT II’s and was admitted.

Supposedly decent to good SATII scores will make you a “more competitive” candidate; however, one night on my hall last year, a bunch of us were sitting in the lounge, talking about admissions. Probably about half of the girls in the room had submitted SATII scores. I submitted mine because they were pretty good (680-720ish) and I knew I was going to need something to compensate for my average grades.

I was wondering about ACT score choice
If in Feb. I got:
composite-28
english-31
math-26
science-27
reading-26

and June:
composite-30
english-32
math-24
science-28
reading-34

If my highest composite is still the same, does it matter if I send in both? Is it the more test scores sent in the better? I have taken the SAT twice but not done as well on them as the ACT…

I know Davidson doesn’t superscore the ACT as they do the SAT. However, I took the ACT 3 times and sent all of them in. I sent no AP Scores and no SAT II’s. I think its also important to realize that Davidson is really not concerned with test scores. They say they are an unimportant factor, and they mean it. Basically, if you fall within a fairly wide range, you are fine and the rest of the application will be used to make a decision. I was reading a copy of the Davidson Journal and it talked about the admission process for the class of 2013 (my class!) and it cited a range of about 28-36 will do the job of keeping the application on the desk for decision.

Should I submit a 720 and 700 test scores?

pumplemousse - Since D doesn’t superscore, I’d suggest sending the 30 composite. You brought the reading score way up, and the math only went down a little. If you wanted to major in math or science, and that’s a big part of who you are as an applicant, I would suggest taking SAT subject tests in one or two of those subjects to show that you’ve got strong aptitude in those subjects too.

collegemom8 - I would think anything 700+ would be an asset to the application. By the way, I’ve seen several of your posts and can’t figure out whether you’re posting as the mom or the son. Maybe collegeson8 should get his own account :)?

I sent only ACT score initially. My GPA was 94 and I had pretty strong ECs. My ACT break down was:

Composite: 31
English: 27
Math: 35
Reading: 31
Science: 31

I was not offered admission at first and was accepted only from the waiting list. After being waitlisted, I submitted SAT IIs (CHEM 660 and Math II 770). I think it could’ve been a factor in the admission decision.
