Does detention qualify as "disciplinary infraction" and/or "behavioral misconduct?"

Well obviously they do, but the common app asks if you have had any history of behavioral misconduct, and my georgetown secondary school report asks my guidance counselor if I have had any disciplinary infractions.

So my questoin is basically this: Is that time Freshamn year when my friend whispered to me during the "Explore" test and the time Sophomore year when my phone rang in Spanish class now going to come back to haunt me? Or are they just looking for serious infractions like suspension and ISS?

Back in the day (!) it was only serious infractions like suspensions, fighting, underage drinking, drugs, etc. I’m almost positive that your phone going off in class is so common these days that colleges don’t care and high schools won’t put in your record at all.

Thanks, I figured that but I’m wondering if my guidance counselor is actually going to check off disciplinary infraction because of my two detentions.

Bump…

How could anybody on this forum conceivably know what your guidance counselor is going to do?

well I guess that’s a very good point as well… :)

Ask your guidance counselor to be sure.

But extremely unlikely. They’re looking for in-school suspensions and above.
