It appeared to me that Early Notification meant the same as Early Action, But I want to make sure I'm not trying to apply ED to two schools!

Carolina's early notification program follows along the lines of Early Action. It is nonbindin-- you will simply find out sooner (normally by mid january) if you have been admitted.

thanks for the reply!

Just as extra clarification, Carolina goes through the applications submitted by the 11/1 deadline and mails letters the 2nd or 3rd week of December. You can be accepted, denied, or deferred.

If accepted, you have until 5/1 to make your decision. If deferred, your application is reconsidered with the 1/15 applications and you'll hear back in the middle of March.

Are you sure about that? The admissions website still lists mid-January as the notification date for the early notification applications.

You're right, it's mid-January. I confused UNC Asheville (12/17 date) and UNC-CH's (1/15) notification dates. Good save! Thank you!
