I was just wondering, if a college (particularly) the UW sees that your family has a pretty dang low EFC and that you are most likely going to need a lot of FinAid (21,000+) will they be more skeptical to accept you???

I feel I have pretty strong stats but my EFC is kinda low I think, will this hurt my chances with the UW, especially since they're facing such big budget cuts??

if they did, that would really suck, terribly. but isn't financial aid a totally different part of the college experience? as in, it's not related to admission

Some schools are "need-blind", but not all. I'm pretty sure that UW doesn't take need into account when looking at admissions.

UW is not need-blind...only a handful of schools in the country are. I think it will only affect you if you are a borderline admit...for example, if Candidate A and Candidate B both have identical (mediocre) stats, but Candidate A doesn't need any aid and Candidate B needs a lot of aid...basically they will be more likely to go for Candidate A. From what I understand, they will look at the amount of aid needed as a last resort when they are trying to make their decisions. If you need aid, that won't be the sole reason you get rejected, but it could be the straw that breaks the camel's back...I hope that makes sense.

If you have fairly strong stats (and are in-state) I wouldn't really worry about it. I got in last year with an EFC of 20...my stats are 3.75 GPA/2210 SAT.
