I recently received a letter from USMA West Point that invite me to apply. I know it might not helps on my application at all but I just wondering is everyone received same letter? Or else why did I been selected?
This is a form letter that is sent to many.
Rumor has it they PAY you to go to school there. And, there is a guaranteed job when you graduate. Not too many places offering that these days.
My son received 2 letters, 2 emails and then my husband and I received a letter 2 weeks later. My husband is a retired veteran , I don’t know if this has anything to do with it or not. My son decided not to apply. I do know that there is a lot involved in applying to any of the service academies. Yes, there is a stipend involved, but it helps pay for some of your expenses at school. If you have a strong desire to serve in the military, then you may want to consider it. If you’re not fully commited, I’d advise against it. It is a binding decision and you are obligated to serve when you graduate. It’s not a decision to take lightly and should be discussed at length with your parents before starting anything.
Not until a cadet takes the oath junior year. Cadets are free to leave USMA anytime before that with no service or payment obligation, but I do agree that applying to and attending a service academy is a very serious decision.
