Does GPA tend to go up or down? Or does it vary?

Well the Class rank got updated and I'm actually quite below the average for both my cum. GPA and the Term GPA. My term gpa is a 3.05 and my cumulative is a 3.06. I'm just wondering if I should be here or what not.

Oh I'm a MechE.

My last semester. I took Strengths, Physics II, Multivar and Cog Psych. All of which I got Bs in. I worked pretty hard for Physics II and I couldn't get the A. I also got a bit screwed over for Multivar for one test and Cog Psych. I didn't think any course was hard to understand. It was just getting the A was a lot harder than I thought it would be and I dun goofed.

But classes are gonna get harder. And I fear my GPA is gonna drop. I just. don't know what I should do. Should I transfer out?

well what are u taking next semester? Some classes are easier down the road

I’m taking Thermals, IED, MAU and Dynamics.

just keep going, if u are getting below a 3, then think about transfering

I would imagine it varies. My GPA went up slightly after the first semester, one of my former roommates had his GPA slightly decrease, and the other roommate’s GPA remained about constant all 4 years.

So. Why is the average graduating GPA a 2.7?

many reasons:

 1. RPI accepts people whose SAT is around 1870-2170 and 26-30. But the rigor of RPI is difficult. RPI should ideally be accepting people with SATs around 1970-2270 and 28-32. (This argument is a bit faulty since SAT scores don’t exactly correspond to intelligence.
 2. RPI is hard

Well I mean. Doesn’t take much of a genius to figure that out. We are one of the toughest grading schools. I was more along the lines of asking whether classes got that much harder. I hear different things. Stories like Cesium’s here and others like. Oh your early high GPA would be very grateful later.

well answer me this arcana, where would u transfer to?
