I sell bracelets, earrings, knit beanies, knit toys and stuff like that. I spend a lot of time managing my Etsy business and I think my shop is pretty successful. I make decent money from it.

Would this count as an extracurricular? Like in the extracurricular space, would I just write "Etsy Shop" and then a link to it?

If anyones wondering, I plan to apply to liberal arts colleges and womens colleges.

Thanks!

Yes, I think so. But not so much the fact that it’s Etsy, but really that you are spending time making the items and putting in the effort to sell them. It demonstrates creativity, initiative, etc. Seems like it’d be a neat topic for an essay.

Thank you! I like the essay idea.

Anybody else?

Great EC potential, depending on how credible you seem.

I think it’s a great EC. I’d put some detail around it.

Definitely, use it as an EC, shows you are a business woman, too!

sure… my older daughter mentioned as a line item on her resume that she sold hand-made greeting cards to fund a trip to Peru, where she worked as a volunteer. She didn’t mention any of that in her primary essay, but I think she did reference it in some minor essay for a particular school, where it seemed impt.

If you are going to school as an artist, or entrepreneur, then by all means, it’s of greater importance to you and should carry more weight.

I’m planning on majoring in Economics so being an entrepreneur is definitely in the cards for me! Thanks everybody!
