Right now I’m a High School senior I’m planning to go to community college to get an associate degree in computer
science and then transfer to UC Berkeley to get my Bachelor’s degree the problem is that I have a 2.7 GPA right now in high school. Also,English is not my native language I’m from Mexico and my native language is Spanish I’ve been learning English for the past 2 and a half years so I’m not fluent in English. So I’m wondering if at least I have to be accepted regardless of my High school GPA if so what else can I do to get a better chance to get into Berkeley?
For junior level transfer admission to UCs and CSUs, high school stuff is not considered, except for fulfilling certain base-level requirements (that can also be fulfilled with college courses or other ways).
Thank you so much
Not trying to critical, but you need a pretty high gpa when you are in community college and are trying to transfer into UC Berkeley (near 4.0). If you have a 2.7 gpa right now, and you’re struggling, then you need to work a lot harder once you get to community college since it’s not going to get any easier. Good luck and try your best!
Thank you @totalcaprice I know I have to work a lot harder I am going to do everything to get a 4.0 the fact that I have a 2.7 GPA right now in high school is just because I was so imature I didn’t think It was so important to have a high GPA and therefore I didn’t even try to get it but I’m sure that I can do so much better than that
Yep, work hard in CC, save $$$ and then transfer to a UC. It’s a great second chance.
My worst GPA in high school was a 0.73. I raised it to a 2.93 by the end of my senior year, but decided to go to a CC. I currently have a 4.0 and hope to transfer to Cal as well. It’s definitely possible to do.
Community College is a fresh start; your high school grades will not affect you at all, just your GPA in college.
You don’t need to get your AA to transfer. If you want to, sure, but it’s definitely not necessary.
I’d look into TAP if I were you; they provide tons of help for prospective transfer students, help you plan things every step of the way, and have a fairly high success rate (I think 90% of TAP students got into the college of their choice).
Thank you @goldencub I hope you can transfer to Cal Good Luck !!!
