Does high-school GPA matter once you’re a college student?

See title for my main question.

[I tried searching for this question and wasn’t sure which forum’s most appropriate. I’m not planning to transfer colleges (in the future) but I do want to apply for internships, fellowships, etc.]

I’m content with my GPA now, but I’m currently in a class that’s not, for lack of a better word, agreeable. Once I graduate from high school, will this affect me “down the road”? (Thanks in advance.)

once your in your in, your GPA is 0 again and its up to you to bring it up

Thanks, pierrechn – basically, a “fresh start”?

high school GPA will not matter at all (unless you transfer) from now on. Although whichever college accepted you has the right to revoke you admission if you flunk out of your 2nd semester HS classes.

yea but i doubt anybody flunks out when your this close to graduating, college is really a chance to prove to everyone that you can do better than what you did in HS

If you want to transfer, then your high school grades will matter.

in the few places that i worked for that asked to see for my college transcripts to see my grades. One asked me for my high school transcript. I gave him an odd look and said “You’re joking…right?” In the end i got the job :P

once you hit sophomore status your high school gpa goes out the window.

Once you hit 30 credits then it’s bye bye high school gpa. :)

Not really. By the time you’re a sophomore, you will already have 30 credits. They’ll place some weight on it, but college work is more important.

Once you’ve reached a certain amount of credits, very few colleges will ask for your high school transcript.

I think college is a good time to realize you don’t need to prove things to other people. In general during college I have never discussed or thought about my HS GPA (I don’t even remember what it was now), SAT Score, or any of that stuff.
