Does institutional verification impact admission decision?

DH and I have filed FAFSA for all school DD is applying to and have filed CSS Profile for an ED and an EA school. We were notified by the ED school, not the EA school and not the Department of Education, that we have additional documents to provide for institutional verification. All of the materials requested have been uploaded into IDOC but not yet been processed. My question is does the request mean that DD is still in the running for admisssion? It seems like a lot of extra work if she is sitting in the “No” pile. I also understand that she can be rejected because she needs too much financial aid. Does anyone have any experience they can share?

The financial aid office is requesting these verification documents…not admissions. The reason you got this from the ED school is that, if she is accepted…IF…they want all the information they need to put her financial aid package to send with an acceptance.

Get the documents sent…check that they have been received.

Don’t make any assumptions that she has been accepted. These financial aid offices like to have their ducks lined up…just in case they need them.

The FA dept doesn’t know if your child is in the yes or no pile. They work independently
