Does it help if teacher recommendation is from a school alum??

Hi Everyone~

D just found out today (when talking with her favorite teacher) that he graduated from one of her top school choices. He was so excited when she mentioned this school to him. And she was excited that he had graduated from there! Noone from our small town goes to ultra-selective schools. He is her chemistry teacher and she is going into a science field. He has always been her #1 choice to write a teacher recommendation! Will this help that he is a school alum? Since he obviously would have first hand knowledge if she was a good "fit" for the school and could handle the coursework?

Also, his son-in-law is on staff at her second choice school! Maybe this is a sign! lol!

Opinions?
