Does it make the difference?

Is a 31 noticeably better than a 28, or is the margin of difference relatively small in comparison to say 26 and 34?

Yes, 31 is noticeably better than 28. And yes, 34 is more noticeably better than 26. Not sure what you want me to say here lol

I’m asking if 31 is a whole lot better essentially, like a night and day difference?

If you’re talking about composite scores, then yes, 31 is noticeably better than a 28.
A 28 is 90th percentile, whereas a 31 is 97th percentile. I would say that it’s quite significant.

Do you think I should retake my ACT then to get that score to get into the University of Michigan? My first try I got a 28.

Agree with above. Being a member of the “30 club” for ACT unlocks honors programs and scholarship money at many schools in the mid west.

I bet that 28 can be changed to a 30 or better with practice.
Good luck @DJ2230

Yes definitely retake the ACT. U of M is VERY hard to get into and I’d say you’d need a 32+ for you to be DECENTLY sure you MIGHT get in.

A 31 is WAY better than a 28, and its definitely possible to make move up. I took mine 3 times and went 28 to 29 to 30. I am very proud with my 30, but if I would never brag about a 28.

Point is, there’s even a big difference between a 30 and a 31, or a 32 and 33. The ACT is only out of 36 so yes, it makes a big difference.

@kansaskid1 @EmoRedneck Well, thank you both for all the help! I signed up to retake it in June, and bought the Real ACT Prep Guide, so with all this study time, I should be able to get a 30 or above!
