Because I go to a 4th tier university. (FIU) I dont really have a problem with it but I only really see it hurting me if it hinders my chance in getting a job. I know that in the business world, the school you go to is an important factor. Is accounting like that too? I really want to get hired by one of the Big 4 so if I stay at my current school will it hurt?

ALSO: what if I want to go further up the ladder in my career as well? Should I get a graduate degree at FIU or go somewhere else?

Thanks

FIU is AACSB acredited which is what matters for accounting. As long as the big 4 recruit there (which I believe they do) you will be able to get a job there. If you are worried or if they don’t recruit there you can always transfer to FSU or UF which both are HEAVILY recruited by big 4. As far as progressing after your hired I don’t think that where you got your degree matters in public accounting. From what I understand getting promoted in big 4 has to do with performance and time with the firm.
