Does it sound crazy to home-school 3 A Levels and 6 APs, and then apply to US universities?

I’m currently in the 10th grade. I want to start full-time homeschooling as it seems to save a lot of time, and I do time-consuming extracurricular activities such as research. I plan to apply to mostly US unis.

There are 2 curricula that I’m considering, IBDP and CIE GCE A levels. I also want to take AP courses to get college credit. It seems like A levels are the right path. From my limited knowledge, it seems that IBDP SLs are useless (in the scope of college admissions and credit), and CAS, TOK and EE are unnecessarily time-consuming, as I’m already doing heavy extracurricular activities. I would really appreciate if you could either confirm or reject these interpretations, but I digress. Due to the nature of my schedule, I think I cannot manage more than 3 A levels and 6 APs over the course of 2 years.

This brings me to the meat of the question: Does 3 A Levels and 6 APs look awkward? US unis are known to adopt a generalist approach, while UK unis are known to adopt a specialist one, and therefore most people who do A levels apply to UK unis, and the opposite for IBDP. I also think it’s unheard of to take A levels along with APs, and then apply to US unis. Would this combination seem like an amalgamation of random courses? Does it signal a confused mindset?

If relevant, these are the schools I’m considering:

  1. IBDP: Pamoja Education - AFAIK, the only IBO certified online homeschooling course
  2. AS/A2 (A Levels): Wesley Hall Oxford/Oxford Home-Schooling - Still debating between them
  3. AP: Johns Hopkins CTY - I recently found out that I was eligible

Thank you

You could argue you want to go in-depth with Alevels and have some diversity with 3 APs in different subjects, sort of recreating your own IB program just with higher level classes than SLs. So 3+3 makes sense (in-depth, complementary).
6 APs would make no sense though. Pick one track or the other.
In addition, you’d have to choose them carefully to make sure you had at least one math, one science, one social science, one English/humanities, one foreign language. The last one would likely double up in the field you want to major in, probably both at ALevel.
What would you be taking?

I’m thinking in the first year: Biology, Computer Science Principles, and Macroeconomics, and second year: Calculus AB, English Language and Microeconomics/Computer Science A (because I don’t speak any of the foreign languages in AP fluently/natively).

The A levels I’ll be taking are Physics, Math, and Chemistry.

Also, could you kindly elaborate on “6 APs would make no sense though. Pick one track or the other.”? I’m planning to do 3 APs in the first year and 3 in the second year.

Thanks a lot
