Does living out-of-state give you a disadvantage?

I live in bronx new york and want to aapply to FAU next year but i think living out of state puts me at the bottom of the pile

I don’t believe applying out of state will put you at a disadvantage. From what I know about FAU they accept a wide arrangement of students internationally, out of state and culturally. I know several students from NY, NJ and several other states that have been accepted and are planning to attend the school this coming fall. The school is still growing -they just have received preliminary accreditation for their medical school & will complete a 30,00 seat football stadium fall- so they are looking forward to a wide arrange of applicants.

My d is ops junior un high school. We live in Philadelphia. We want a Florida school with Greek life football and good academics. My concern is the commuter reputation?. Has it changed and will it continue to be more a campus experience

samucf2234, it shouldn’t be a problem. FAU’s Board of Trustees asked Admissions to increase the number of out-of-staters in an attempt to reach the 10% limit (that is: incoming FTIC OOS can only be 10%) the state legislature imposes.

Sunny19 is right on about Owls from NY, NJ, etc.

Hi My daughter is also a junior, and looking only at Florida schools. We are from CT.
Where else is your daughter looking?
