Does major affect admission?

What is the easiest major to get into Cornell with, especially with mediocre SAT (assume: 2100) and SAT II scores (assume: all near 700) but with decent grades (assume: 3.9 unweighted) , decent EC's (assume: random community service, a couple years of a sport), some job experience (assume: 2yrs part-time), class rank (top 5%), and lots of enthusiasm (assume: good essay on common app)?

For instance, I know for GWU, Engineering was the major they were most desperate for, and so not only were they accepted at a seemingly high rate, but they were also the first ones to receive their package.

I already applied to all my schools as a philosophy major, because I genuinely love philosophy, so I'm not starting this thread for advice, but just because I am really curious. The above assumptions are not my statistics, but they are the statistics of a hypothetical above average student who is well-rounded but not a strong Ivy prospect.

P.S. Sorry if the question is really dumb, and if I wasted your time.

Swahili is always good.

^Lol, nice.

for your stats with a 'mediocre' SAT..you could apply to architecture ...but architecture is also the most selective major to get into.

each college has its own admission criteria so you can't simply use SAT and GPA and general stats to determine your chances. for you, your best bet is probably philosophy because that's where you seem to have a passion for

cornell looks waaay beyond your SAT and GPA scores.

I know that, at least in CALS, whether you apply to Biology or Biology and Society can make a difference in admission. I originally wanted Bio, but the transfer admissions director called me and said Bio & Society would be a better fit and would prob increase my chance of admission.

It just depends on the college and whether you demonstrate you are a good fit for your college and major. You can apply to an "easy" major with excellent stats and still be rejected if you don't come across as a good fit.
