Does McGill give decisions for Americans before May 1?

May 1 is obviously commitment day in the US, when deposits are due for American universities. McGill is my first choice but I’m wondering if I will be unable to go even if I get admitted because it will be past the May 1 deadline when I have to commit to another college. I applied in early October, was put as “Further Review Required” in mid-December, uploaded my grades almost right away, and still have not heard back. It’s been well over a month and I am feeling like I will literally never hear back lol, and am praying it is sometime reasonable before mid-April though I’m not sure.

The higher you are above the minima for your faculty the earlier you will hear. Most U.S. students will be asked to upload their mid-year grades. Last year (when my son applied) it seemed like a lot of people heard in February/March.

We applied end of January, submitted final first semester grades and Projected scores (for IB) last week and heard last night.

I agree with @SwimmingDad. Students that are way above the cutoff usually hear quickly. Students close to the cutoff hear later. McGill knows about the May 1 date for US schools.
